Meet the workshop residents:
Big Blue
Position: Lower shelf, left rack
The oldest active boat in the workshop. A large 1980s hydroplane with a long history and a strong opinion about almost everything. Usually calm, usually confident, and usually convinced that experience outweighs modern engineering. Big Blue rarely rushes, rarely panics and rarely admits mistakes.
Mr. Green
Position: Upper shelf, left rack.
A modern hydroplane finished in bright green. Methodical, analytical and highly organized. Mr. Green approaches every problem as an engineering problem and firmly believes that sufficient data can explain almost anything. Whether anyone actually asked for that data is another matter entirely.
Miss Violet
Position: Middle shelf, left rack
A classic 1960s hydroplane finished in purple. Elegant, quiet and observant. Miss Violet prefers to listen rather than speak, but when she does have something to say it is usually difficult to argue with. Often notices problems long before everyone else.
The Frame
Position: Upper shelf, right rack
An unfinished wooden 1960s hydroplane frame. Despite lacking paint, hardware and any practical reason to be involved in discussions, The Frame is treated with a surprising amount of respect. Known for speaking rarely and thinking deeply.
Yellow Jacket
Position: Middle shelf, right rack
A yellow 1980s hydroplane. Fully capable of reminding everyone that it is a perfectly valid member of the fleet despite spending long periods resting on the shelf. Maintains a healthy level of confidence regardless of recent activity.
Proto White
Position: Lower shelf, right rack
An experimental white hydroplane developed using extensive 3D printing. Represents several interesting ideas, some successful and some still under investigation. Proto White spends a considerable amount of time thinking about design choices, unfinished projects and the nature of being a prototype.
Lil Red
Position: Usually found near the workbench
A compact red Supercat. Small in size but not in personality. Lil Red possesses unlimited confidence, unlimited energy and very limited patience. Frequently involved in discussions, arguments and protests. Generally believes that every situation should somehow involve Lil Red.
The Boss
Position: Everywhere and nowhere
Owner of the workshop. Responsible for construction, repairs, upgrades and new projects. Rarely seen clearly. The boats have many theories regarding The Boss.
None have been confirmed.
THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is home to a collection of projects in various stages of completion. Some are finished. Some are nearly finished. Some have been nearly finished for quite a long time. Life in the workshop consists of maintenance, upgrades, experimentation, waiting for parts, unexpected problems and occasional engineering success.
Most days are relatively quiet.
